As opposed to the hedonistic Eighties, and affluent Nineties, today's watchword seems to be austerity. Whatever papers we read or news reports we watch on TV, the same message is being hammered home; that everybody should be tightening their belts. It seems that food and fuel prices are rising inexorably, and for many there are some lean years ahead. However, for the affluent, this is not an issue and they will certainly not want to go without the luxuries that life has to offer.
